Leave the nesting eagles alone! Seriously, the climbs over here might attract newbies based on the amount of easy graded climbs, but man are they horrible. Bagpiping in the Buff is the perfect example of the climbs in this area and is the second line from the left most climb on The Monument.
The big huecos and prominent features look inviting but it seems like more harm than good could be done climbing in this area. Large ledges and steps are covered in loose rock that is easily kicked off on those below. The climbing never establishes any sort of fun flow, and once you reach the top you can’t do much more than shrug your shoulders and lower. Oh yeah, and the nesting eagles given the time of year. They deserve some peace and quiet more than this rock deserves to be climbed.

The Sterling Hollow Block is great at biting down on ropes when tying friction knots using a Prusik, Klemheist, or auto block. Its Aramid fiber construction helps resist abrasion and heat. Pony up a few extra bucks to have one hanging from your harness, you’ll end up using it.
