Eye of the Beholder is technical climb located to the right of The Struggle Within on the Northeast Face of the Smith Rock Group - East. The climb is short in comparison to other lines in the park but it packs a punch most of the way.
Start up less than stellar holds and reach into a finger crack up to the second bolt. From there work your way up through easier climbing to the fourth bolt which is the crux of the climb. Navigate through the small bulge from left to right, using multiple small crimps and a small pinch on bad feet before being able to work up under the mini roof on big holds. The roof provides one more cruxy section working right around the roof and pulling over it. Look and feel for the holds, they are all there.
Overall, Eye of the Beholder is a great but humbling climb that doesn't reward strength nearly as much as technical balanced climbing.

The Sterling Hollow Block is great at biting down on ropes when tying friction knots using a Prusik, Klemheist, or auto block. Its Aramid fiber construction helps resist abrasion and heat. Pony up a few extra bucks to have one hanging from your harness, you’ll end up using it.
