The Northeast Face of the eastern side of the Smith Rock Group is home to a majority of bolted routes on vertical to overhanging rock. Much like the nearby Phoenix Buttress and Llama Wall, the rock is solid with lots of sharp pockets and edges. Here you will find plenty of single pitch gems along with a number of multi-pitch adventures, some of which top-out on the Smith Rock Group.
The Northeast face of the Smith Rock Group is located between the Phoenix Buttress and the Llama Wall just above the Crooked River. It gets nice afternoon shade.

The Sterling Hollow Block is great at biting down on ropes when tying friction knots using a Prusik, Klemheist, or auto block. Its Aramid fiber construction helps resist abrasion and heat. Pony up a few extra bucks to have one hanging from your harness, you’ll end up using it.
