Welcome to the most easily accessed and most popular beginning climbing area in the park! Based on how easy it is to get to and that you can setup top ropes for a range of easy climbs, expect larger groups in the area. The Rope De Dope Block is usually plenty busy on any sort of regular day or weekend at the park. While the access is easy, the climbing isn't as fun as other areas in the park and the routes are fairly short.
Walk down into the park entrance but skip the chute trail and take the less steep trail. Look for an offshoot trail that stays on the south side of the Crooked River right before the trail turns back right. This is the free standing square block that is the only close-in climbing area south of the river. Picnic tables and a large open space next to the river makes this a good area for larger groups to hangout. Climb up the backside of the block to gain the top and setup topropes on easy to moderate climbs.
