Pleasure Palace

The Pleasure Palace is a great little zone on the park's west side where you can tick off a handful of moderate routes that are fairly fun without having to leave a single area. Even better, half the wall is in the shade for the better part of the day. The downside is that many of the climbs are over not long after you leave the ground, especially on the left side of the cliff band where the shorter climbs live. Still, this is a great little zone that can offer solace, a view of Monkey Face and the Cascades.

Location

Located on the west side of the park just pass (north) and uphill from the Mesa Verde Wall. If you approach from the south expect a long slog uphill from the Mesa Verde Wall on a decent trail that heads straight up. You can also walk up and over Misery Ridge and drop down into the Pleasure Palace. This is the more direct route but either way you have a nice little hike ahead.

The Sterling Hollow Block is great at biting down on ropes when tying friction knots using a Prusik, Klemheist, or auto block. Its Aramid fiber construction helps resist abrasion and heat. Pony up a few extra bucks to have one hanging from your harness, you’ll end up using it.
