Usually the first place that people start when getting introduced to the Mesa Verde Wall, Cosmos sets the tone appropriately by offering up nubbins and nobs almost the entire way. For those that aren’t used to the Smith Rock ways of trusting a few nipple-pinching finger holds and digging in on knobby footholds, this might be a little spooky but you’ll get the hang of it. Use the arete on the left to gain the first clip and then get on the face for some classic Smith Rock nubbin pulling. Sustained for the grade without many bailout jugs, the crux comes with getting some high feet under you and hoping that nubbin you are going for is good enough. Not quite a classic climb but definitely lots of fun that will get your head straight for what lies ahead in the area.
