Smith Rock Climbing Routes

Smith Rock State Park is home to hundreds of climbing routes and offers climbers an endless amount of options. Tick off the classics in the main area of the park or venture out to less frequented areas that still offer an abundance of quality routes. While the park is known as a sport climbing mecca, trad climbers will also find worthy routes to jump on.

Beginners and strongmen alike will find plenty of routes to be climbed. The gradings at Smith will feel sandbagged at times, especially given that the first bolt is commonly higher off the deck than you would like. Overall the routes seem to climb better as the grades increase but either way you will have to embrace the small pebble pinching nature of the tuff.
